Our friends over at Sadolin have sent us some great tips for helping your garden decking to look its best this summer. Whether it's just been laid or needs a bit of a face lift, Sadolin offers an all in one stain and preserver designed to save time and provide hardwearing protection to keep your decking looking good for longer.
If you already have a deck, brush the surface with a stiff broom to remove dirt and debris and use warm soapy water to remove any algal or mould growth. Allow the decking to dry completely before applying the stain.
If you are installing a new deck apply Sadolin Premium Protection Decking Stain and Preserver to all surfaces of the deck boards – including the cut ends - with at least one coat before fixing. Apply the stain and preserver in the direction of the grain to avoid the appearance of ‘overlap’ marks. Once the decking is built, apply the final coats, but remember to follow the advice on the can about coverage rates and drying times between coats.
Sadolin Premium Protection Decking Stain and Preserver is available in four colours – Forest Green, Golden Brown, Red Cedar and Teak in 2.5 litre cans in Focus, Homebase and leading independent DIY stores priced from £27.99.
