A sound of amazement came from Betty's desk yesterday as she was going through the latest news releases, so I knew it had to be something good. Surface View has got together with the Victoria and Albert Museum to launch a new bespoke mural collection including work from William Morris, Edward Lear and George Ehret.
Finally, someone has done something amazing with those fantastic images that the V&A store and though you may not have the space to do a complete mural justice, there are plenty of other options.
Surface View has digitally re-mastered over 140 images from architecture and classic masters to botanics and landscapes from the V&A's Collections. High resolution digital files for each image allow for exciting use of crops and enlargements. A William Morris wallpaper can be transformed into a contemporary interior statement or a 19th century Qing Dynasty marriage robe can be cropped to create a richly coloured wall mural.
"When I first thought of applying technology to world recognised images of true quality I knew that the V&A Collection would be an outstanding source, and really show the true potential of imagery in interiors," says Michael Ayerst, managing director of Surface View commenting on the launch. "The images can be used just like murals, so offices as well as homes can use them to great effect. They really look stunning. We can also adapt the images to suit people's needs, changing background colours or cropping the shots. The V&A's images look incredible applied in this way. It's been a great opportunity and we enjoy working with the V&A, making these images available to the public in this format for the first time."
Available in variety of finishes, the murals are created to your own measurements and are supplied a bit like wallpaper ready for you or your decorator to apply. The great thing about Surface View is the company's expertise in printing, so they can apply images to curtain fabric, blinds and even onto glazing films.
But don't take our word for it, go visit the website for the full effect. Betty's so taken with it that she's already planning a redecoration of our office.
Prices start from £75.00 per square meter. Visit www.surfaceview.co.uk for more information.

What an innovative idea. I love the fact that a blank wall can become a canvas in its own right. This is a really creative way of making a strong interior statement. I can imagine that this will be a strong idea for hotels and restaurants as well as stunning features in people's homes. As far as I know, this is the first time that an image maintains its quality when enlarged to this scale.
