I always thought it was because they were different sizes too.

I was very impressed with the simple explanation about the difference of the two sinks. Now I know which one I should go for.

Many thanks

I can't believe that I've got to the ripe age of 68 yrs and finally seems I will be getting a Butler sink, which I've always wanted - but... I didn't even know about Belfast sinks! so thank you so much for the most interesting info on this site.

Finally, an argument settled! I always referred to butler sinks whereas my husband calls them Belfast..it now appears we are both right (but i am more so, since we have a BUTLER sink!!). Thanksyou!!
