5 Easy Steps to Revamp Your Kitchen Table
Top Tips for Giving Your Table a Revamp

A key piece of furniture for any home is the kitchen table, but often as a result of everyday use it can be left looking a little worse for wear. However, with a little bit of elbow grease and the right product, you can transform it in just a few hours.

Deciding on the best cover for your furniture will depend on the expected level of usage and also the quality and type of the natural wood. For furniture like a kitchen table that’s going to have more wear and tear, it’s best to go for a varnish offering a higher level of protection. And for more occasional furniture, you may opt for a stain. Sadolin Quick Drying Varnish (RRP: from £13.99/ 750ml) and Sadolin Interior Stain (RRP: £12.99/ litre) are both available in six wood shades so you’re sure to find something to complement your existing furniture.

Give your kitchen table a new lease of life in 5 easy steps!

1. For interior furniture, sand to remove any existing flaky coatings. For best results, use a fine/ medium grade sandpaper, which will help provide a good key for the stain or varnish.

2. Degrease the surface and remove all the dust from sanding. Dampen a cloth with methylated spirits or cellulose thinners and wipe over the surface, and allow to dry.

3. Stir the product thoroughly. Then using a good quality brush, apply the product generously, in a full flowing manner, in the direction of the wood’s grain.

4. Allow to dry and if the grain has ‘raised’, give a light sanding before applying a second coat.

5. Leave to dry thoroughly for around 48 hours until the product has fully hardened before use.
