Stainless Steel Cutlery, Blacksmith
Although Sheffield’s association with cutlery goes back some several hundred years,
stainless steel cutlery did not come about until the 1920s and even then only in
small amounts. It was not until after the second world war that mass produced stainless
steel cutlery was widely available in the UK.
Echoing early stainless steel cutlery designs with its tapered handles and angled
corners, Villeroy and Boch’s latest new cutlery collection is distinctly more streamlined
than its 30s predecessors, with none of the heavy handles and bevelled edges commonly
seen in art-deco cutlery.
Aptly named Blacksmith, due to the pounded metal effect that gives texture to the
handle, the cutlery is made from high-quality stainless steel. Blacksmith is dishwasher
safe and available as individual pieces or in 24, 30, 44, 60 or 124 piece sets.
The stainless steel cutlery is priced from £2.50 for a demi-tasse spoon up to £675.00
for 124 piece gift set. For more information visit www.villeroy-boch.com
