Over 50 Designs and Patterns of Tube Lined Tiles
It was not until the second half of the 19th century that the Victorians started to make decorated glazed wall tiles in any quantity and still another couple of decades until the art of tube lining was discovered.
Now, this technique, which was so popular with the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movement, has been given a new lease of life by Temple Trading. Individually hand crafted, the tiles are produced by an original British tile factory that fell into disuse 50 years ago.
Using the same methods and techniques of hand filling a raised design with deep areas of rich glaze colour to give a vibrant, clearly defined, three-dimensional design, Temple Trading now offer over fifty different designs and patterns of tube line tiles.
Finished with a unique antique glaze recipe, the tiles have a deep crackled appearance and come in a range of sizes from 6x6 inch standard square, 3x6 inch horizontal rectangle or round.
